Curriculum Vitae

Dr Andreas Foskolos graduated in 2001 from the Department of Animal Production of the Technological and Educational Institute of Larisa (Greece) and followed MSc studies at Wageningen University (The Netherlands) as scholar of the State Scholarships Foundation of Greece. Following a two years period working as animal nutritionist in Greece, he was enrolled in PhD studies at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (Spain), where he developed his PhD dissertation on strategies to reduce nitrogen pollution from dairy cattle farming. Then, Dr Foskolos worked as postodoctoral associate at Cornell University (USA) under Prof Michael Van Amburgh on upgrading the Cornell Net Carbohydrate and Protein System resulting in version 6.5. In this update the protein sub-model was significantly improved and new approached on NDF degradations kinetics ion the rumen were incorporated. From 2015 to 2019, he worked as researcher at Aberystwyth University, where he was involved in several projects focused on reducing the environmental impact from bovine production, developing and implementing Life Cycle Assessement models. Since October 2019, he is Assistant Professor at the Department of Animal Science at the University of Thessaly and manager of the Laboratory of Ruminant Livestock Farming.
