Biology, Genetics and Bio-informatics

The Laboratory aims to study the genetic diversity of farm animals. More specifically, genes associated with desirable phenotypic characteristics can be used as selection markers for genetic improvement of farm animal populations. In addition, the laboratory aims in the investigation of polymorphisms at genomic level, which can characterize genetically the species or populations of farm animals and form their genetic identity.
